Avoid the salad bar. Opting for the salad bar may sound like a healthy choice. However, it can be a major diet pitfall for people watching their waistline. The salad bar comes complete with high-fat dressings, mayonnaise-based pasta salads, cottage cheese, nuts, seeds, croutons and other calorie-rich foods that can quickly steer you off plan. Avoid this fat trap by opting for plenty of vegetables, oil and vinegar, fresh fruit (not drenched in syrup) and other diet-smart choices.
Of course self control at the salad bar is also an option. Personally that is my tool, use portion control and a small plate.
