Hit the Weights to Lose Weight

(Ivanhoe Newswire) -- Trying to lose weight? A new study says instead of spending all of your time at the gym doing cardiovascular exercise, you need to start weight lifting. The study found weight training helps improve and control your metabolism.

Researchers from Boston University School of Medicine conducted the research in mice. They found the mice with more muscles lost fat and showed other signs of metabolic improvement throughout the body. The benefits were seen even though the mice were on a high fat and sugar diet and didn’t increase any other physical activity.

Researchers say type II muscle is what allows you to pick up heavy objects and it may also be key in weight loss. Researchers write, “These findings indicate that type II muscle has a previously unappreciated role in regulating whole-body metabolism through its ability to alter the metabolic properties of remote tissues. These data also suggest that strength training, in addition to the widely prescribed therapy of endurance training, may be of particular benefit to overweight individuals.”

Study authors conclude increasing muscle mass in humans may prove to be critical in the fight against obesity, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, hypertension and cancer.

I will skip the Topamax, suggested by medsranch. The possible side effects are blurred vision eye pain double vision tingling in fingers or toes shaking hands that you cannot control restlessness, inability to sit still crossed eyes worsening of seizures slow heart rate pounding or irregular heartbeat chest pain trouble breathing fast, shallow breathing inability to respond to things around you upset stomach vomiting stomach pain loss of appetite excessive hunger unintentional loss of urine difficult or painful urination unusual bruising or bleeding sore throat, fever, chills, and other signs of infection muscle weakness bone pain Topiramate may cause osteoporosis (a condition in which bones can break more easily) in adults and rickets (abnormal, curved bone growth) in children.
Lifting weights has none of these problems associated with it.

Lifting weight is a great way to create lean body tissue which requires more calories than nonlean tissue.

I don't get as much time to do resistance training as I would like. I am a group fitness instructor and once I have taught all my classes I am done!

Yes weight lifting is good for weight lose, also it keeps your body in perfect tone. please don't take any drugs to lose weight.
